Alcohol Detox

The initial step of alcoholism recovery is alcohol detoxification. A person’s body and mind must be cleared before therapeutic measures can be of maximum benefit. The goals of Orange County Alcohol Detox Centers are to minimize alcohol withdrawal symptoms and diffuse alcohol cravings.

Alcoholism:

Alcoholism is a chronic disease, progressive mental health disorder with acute nutritional deficiencies. There is an awful stigma attached to the word, “alcoholic.” Many people express their incredulity with statements like, “Mary shouldn’t drink so much,” or “Johnny is a drunk.” These are typical human responses to problems they do not understand and cannot fix. For the alcoholic it is part and parcel to what they hold true, which is, they feel different.

The disease of alcoholism is like emotional cancer on a bad diet. Alcoholics often stay in a protracted state of loneliness, shame and defensiveness for years and sometimes decades before they seek help.

Many alcoholics need direct confrontation from loved ones before they will accept help.

Alcoholic Habit:

Alcoholics tend to give up what they really want; family, financial success, good health, etc… for what they want right now.

What alcoholics want right now is to change how they feel.

Why do people become alcoholics?

Most alcoholics drink to combat unwanted feelings.

It’s not the drinking per se that causes people to become alcoholics rather the decision making process that lies at center of most addiction problems. Negative emotions that cannot be diffused appropriately cause people to feel helpless. And helplessness is the core emotion that motivates alcoholics to drink.

The decision to drink alcohol allows alcoholics to regain control of their lives, reduce negative feelings and that in turn creates feelings of power and freedom. Drinking is in effect a consequence of that decision.

The proof of this is can be seen when alcoholics, drug addicts, overeaters, sex addicts and gamblers make the decision to drink, use drugs, over eat, have anonymous sex or make a bet, respectively. The exact moment a decision is made they feel better. They have their secret plan and they are in total control especially if they keep it a secret.

Drinking alcohol to overcome helplessness is at the heart of alcoholism.

In fact, all addictive behaviors can be reduced down to overcoming the feeling of helplessness. Overeating, gambling, sex addiction, drug addiction; it’s all comes down to the same underlying emotion -HELPLESSNESS!

This only explains why a person takes their first drink.

Call : 1-877-338-6962

Why do alcoholics drink so much?

That question has baffled the most brilliant of minds for centuries. The decision to drink is the addictive component and it continues throughout the drinking experience. Once a person finishes their first drink they must make another decision and another so they can remain empowered and ward of helplessness.

Warding off helplessness is the heart of alcoholism.

Alcoholic drinking is a pattern of behavior developed over many years that usually began years earlier and almost always started in adolescence. Alcoholism is at its core a pediatric illness.

Call : 1-877-338-6962

What about the alcoholic who is physically addicted to alcohol?

In the final stages of alcoholism the decision to drink is taken away. Late stage alcoholics must drink or they run a material risk of tonic-clonic seizures and death. Physical dependency trumps all emotional problems. Alcoholic addiction is a serious and potentially life-threatening problem.

Any person physically dependent to alcohol should seek help - immediately.

Call : 1-877-338-6962

Alcoholism Nutritional Deficiencies:

Many alcoholics use alcohol as a primary source of calories. Alcohol has zero nutritional value. Many alcoholics suffer from malnutrition especially Thiamine deficiency, Folic Acid deficiency and Potassium deficiency, Calcium deficiency, Magnesium deficiency and dehydration.

Anaheim

Anaheim Alano Club
Address: 202 W. Broadway Anaheim California 92805

The Anaheim Alano Club is actually an Alana Club. The reason for the difference in spelling is based in the history of the creators who were Alanons. The building is currently used for Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and Narcotics Anonymous meetings.

The Anaheim Alana Club was founded in 1963. This bright yellow building was previously occupied by Hilgenfeld Mortuary. This may be the only true HAUNTED HOUSE in Anaheim and possibly the only HAUNTED ALANA BLUB in the nation.

Some say you can hear children playing in the basement - if you listen carefully. So, if you are looking for a haunted Alana Club or a sober place to go for Halloween then go to 202 W. Broadway Anaheim, California.

Pay attention as you walk up the stairs as many have experienced an eerie chill near one of the steps.

The building is also an unregistered Historic Building. The neighborhood is spattered by similar historic buildings that were all built in the early 20th century.
